Johnson, Mergen Named as Citizen Board Representatives on NRPA Board of Trustees
Bob Johnson, Jr., of Blue Valley Recreation Commission and Mark Mergen of Leawood Parks and Recreation, have been elected to the NRPA Board of Trustees. Both will start their term at the end of the NRPA Congress in October and they will each serve three years.
Johnson will serve in the citizen at-large position and Mergen will be the Midwest Region citizen board representative. Their term on the NRPA Board of Trustees covers October, 2006 to October, 2009.
Johnson is senior vice president of Charlton Manley Insurance which operates offices in Lawrence, Topeka and Overland Park. Johnson has been on the board of Blue Valley Recreation Commission since 2002 and currently vice chairman. He previously served on the Lawrence Parks and Recreation Citizen Board Advisory Committee from 1989-1993, including one year as chair.
Mergen is owner of Mergen Communications in Leawood, a firm that consults with businesses in the Kansas City metro area regarding healthcare and telecommunications.
