KRPA Online Announcement
TOPEKA, October 10 - Launching headlong into the digital age, Kansas Recreation
and Park Association today announced the launch of its new interactive social networking website - KRPA Online.
Designed specifically for park and recreation professionals, the website offers
space for KRPA's members to meet, share and learn to market their commissions in
the competitive, digital age.
“KRPA Online is a collaborative work environment designed for park and
recreation professionals, it’s a space where users can learn effective marketing
tactics and learn from each other throughout the state,” said KRPA Executive Director,
Doug Vance.
Developed in association with the University of Kansas' William Allen White
School of Journalism and Mass Communications, KRPA is now offering a host of
marketing tactics and strategies to its members through KRPA Online. Videos and
eBooks highlight key opportunities for expansion of KRPA's member's marketing
efforts and offer creative insight for reaching current and prospective users in the
new media age.
“We also want our members to contribute their success stories to our
repository at KRPA Online. Contributors will have the opportunity to have their
content featured in KRPA’s print publications,” said Vance.
Kansas Recreation and Park Association’s goal in launching KRPA Online is
to help members more effectively advocate, educate and communicate with their

KRPA Announces New Commercial Membership Program
The Kansas Recreation and Park Association (KRPA), in an effort to provide more effective promotional and support opportunities for those organizations that operate a business which caters to park and recreation agencies, has created a new exciting membership program that offers increased benefits for commercial members.
Under the new program, commercial members will have an opportunity to communicate their marketing messages directly to KRPA members, receive a significant discount (over non members) to purchase a booth at the annual KRPA Conference and Trade Show, be listed in the membership directory and have your logo listed on the KRPA website.
The new program replaces the automatic membership obtained by purchasing a booth at the annual KRPA Conference and Trade Show. Commercial organizations may still purchase a trade show booth at a non-member rate, but KRPA membership and a copy of the membership directory and buyer’s guide will not be included as a benefit.
Those organizations that purchased a booth for the 2011 KRPA Conference will maintain their membership through the remainder of the year. However, corporate memberships may be purchased at the new dues levels and receive the benefits available immediately.

Economic Impact Study for Parks and Recreation in Kansas
Funds spent in Kansas recreation and parks programs or facilities, activities and employees return $1.70 for every $1 invested, according to an economic impact study conducted by Jayhawk Consulting, University of Kansas School of Business.
“This means that spending for Kansas parks and recreational activities are additive, not detrimental, to the overall Kansas economy,” said Wallace W. Meyer, Director of Entrepreneurship Programs, University of Kansas School of Business.
“It’s a statement that funds invested into Kansas recreation and parks produce a positive economic value and may be better investments than other alternatives which produce lower returns as evaluated using the same model,” added Meyer.
